If you’re ever in Wisconsin, you must do a fish fry. You also must go to a Supper Club, if you can. Wendt’s on the Lake is technically in Van Dyne, but it is famous all over northeast and north central Wisconsin. The brilliance of Wendt’s is that it takes pretty much that is synonymously Wisconsin and puts it all into one place. You can get there by car and boat. There is plenty of beer. The fish fry has perch and walleye straight from the lake. The dining isn’t fancy and the décor isn’t chic, but the trophy fish and the cash-only payment system remind you that you’re home.
